Meet The Duo
In short, the 2 shooters of Tripeaksimagery can be described as The Mule and The Details Freak. Weehan with seemingly endless bouts of strength seem to lug loads without much difficulty. It seems to affect his sanity somewhat as he cracks corny jokes that no one laughs. To make up for it, he laughs all the day to it by himself.
Charmaine, with a fetish for aesthetics and details makes up the other half of Tripeaksimagery. With a multitude of talents from producing, shooting to editing, she seems like the Robocop replacement. A workaholic by nature, she scoffs at Weehan when he is too caught up with Fifa 13 on his iPad.
And yes, we do a little of nature and travel photography once in a while.
In late 2009, I quit my day job to allow myself more time on a long form wildlife documentary as well as make frequent travels to pursue my passion in landscape and travel photography. I also began a deeper dive into timelapse photography and HD-DSLR filmmaking and am a instructor at the Canon Imaging Academy in Singapore.
My love for nature photography prompted me to join the Nature Photographic Society Singapore (NPSS) in the year it was founded (2000) and subsequently, I was appointed to be in its committee in 2002 and served as President from 2010-2012.
In 2013, my second timelapse film, 7219 was launched. It was a surreal moment when Charmaine called to say that the miniature timelapse film has caught the eye of our Prime Minister and he shared it on his Facebook.
I grew up like any other little girl, wanting to do what the popular kids do, but when I was 14 or so in 2004, I stumbled out of the line and found myself falling into photography. Back then, photography was about having the power to block my school's principal at the front row because I needed to get a shot. Of course, it grew into something more. I started shooting with a compact camera and began professional in 2010 with the Youth Olympic Games being the first paid assignment.
Getting to know Wee Han in 2009 has also allowed me to pick up new skills and discover my potential exponentially. I weaved my interest for the wild with photography and started shooting landscapes. I've several influences including the partner but no strongest influence. They inspire me to think differently and I try to then shoot with my own eye. Located in the highly urbanised Singapore, I tend to shoot cityscapes, architecture and street. I am also currently in the Nature Photographic Society, Singapore (NPSS) as an Assistant Treasurer.
While studying for a Mass Communication Degree in Nanyang Technological University, I fell in love with film-making, the art of stringing several images together to produce a beautiful product. Since then, I find myself shooting and directing close to 15 short films. One of my documentary short, UNHEARD, was shortlisted for Best Documentary Film in Singapore Short Films Awards 2012, Watersprite Awards London 2012, it was subsequently selected to be screened at several other events.
A personal achievement for me was the making of FOR YOU, I DANCE, an art-cinema film that portrays a picturesque Singapore in the olden days.
